1. What must occur for an object to accelerate?
The forces must be unbalanced
2. A/An net force is the sum of all forces acting upon an object.
**Read the scenario and answer the questions that follow:
Two forces are acting upon an object in opposite directions. One force is 80N and the other force is 35N.
3. Are the forces balanced or unbalanced? Explain your answer.
Unbalanced because the forces are different. If they were both 80N or both 35N, then they would be equal.
4. Calculate the net force on the object.
45N
5. When velocity is constant there is no net force nor unbalanced force
6. Define what a Resultant force is and give an example
The size of the overall force applied to an object. 100-35=45N
7. Speed and direction change when the forces are unbalanced.
8. One of the websites provides an example of a large truck being acted upon by two opposing forces. Explain why the truck will move in the direction of the 100N force.
Because the force on one side is stronger, therefore it will move the way the force is pushing, or pulling,
9. True or False. When a force is named as 70N, the N means “North.” If the statement is false correct the statement
False, Newtons.
10. Describe an object with a balanced force.
Doesn’t move, same amount of force is being applied on both sides of the object.
11. Describe an object with an unbalanced force.
Moves, change in speed and direction, unequal amounts of force being applied on the sides of the object.

13. Give an example of unbalanced forces, make sure and explain why you believe it is an unbalanced force.
A ball going down a hill because the speed increases as it goes down a hill, and slowing down as it gets to flat ground.
14. Give an example of a negative net force make sure and explain why you believe it is a negative net force.
When the same amount of force is applied from both sides, because it cancels eachother out.
15. Give an example of a positive net force, make sure and explain why you believe it is a positive net force.
When the forces are unequal, because the overall force will turn out to be positive
16. Describe an object with an unbalanced force, make sure and explain why you believe it is an unbalanced force.
A book being pushed accross a table because there is not enough force to hold the book back from being pushed accross the table.
17. Describe an object with a balanced force, make sure and explain why you believe it is a balanced force.
A computer on a desk because all the forces acting on it are equal, therefore, it doesn't move.
