Magnetic Strip Lab
1) Describe what pattern occurred in your model
after a few red sticks there are always white sticks, and they keep rotating.
2) If samples could be taken from the "red" basalt crust material in your model, from the same number on each side of the ridge, what would lab tests reveal about the polarity of the material?
It has normal polarity in that section
3) If samples could be taken from the "white" basalt crust material in your model, from the same number on each side on the ridge, what would lab tests reveal about the polarity of the material?
It would have a reverse polarity than the red polarity
4) How does this pattern of alternating polarity support the theory of plate tectonics?
It shows that the seafloor is spreading because if it had the same polarity we wouldn't know if the seafloor moves
